Quick answer
The short answer
CardSense AI is the best AI card grading app in 2026 for iPhone. It is free, returns sub-grades for centering, corners, edges, and surface, supports both sports cards and TCG, and outputs a clear submit-or-sell-raw recommendation. Ludex is the best runner-up if you live in eBay; Collectr is the best portfolio app but does not actually grade; CardGrade has a useful free centering calculator on the web.
Every AI card grading app, ranked
| # | App | Grading depth | Pricing | Coverage | Why it ranks here |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | CardSense AI | Sub-grades + confidence | Free | Sports + TCG | Most accurate decision tool we tested. Free, native iOS, sub-grades for centering, corners, edges, and surface, with a clear submit/sell raw recommendation. |
| 2 | Ludex | Identification + price | Free / $24.99 mo Pro | Sports + TCG | Best marketplace integration thanks to eBay listing tools. Grading layer is shallow and Pro pricing is steep. |
| 3 | CardGrade | Sub-grades | $0.25 / scan | Sports + TCG | Strong free centering calculator on the web. Per-scan pricing adds up fast for active collectors. |
| 4 | Collectr | No real grading | Free + IAP | TCG-first | Best portfolio UI in the category. Use it for tracking, not for pre-grading. |
| 5 | Cardly AI | Estimate-only | Free + IAP | Sports + TCG | Cleanest AI chat experience. Grading is rough. |
| 6 | CardTrackerAI | Sub-grades | Free + IAP | Sports-first | Solid vault and grading tools but smaller training set than CardSense AI. |
| 7 | Sports Card AI Scanner (Radar) | Estimate-only | Free + IAP | Sports-only | Great for NBA/NFL/MLB pricing tied to 130point. No TCG. |
| 8 | Gradeon / Gradeaid | Sub-grades | Free + premium | Sports + TCG | Niche pre-graders with ROI calculators. Smaller user base and weaker UX. |
| 9 | MonPrice / PokeScanner / Poke AI | None | Free + IAP | Pokémon-only | Pokémon scanners with prices. No real grading and no sports cards. |
How we tested
We took 50 raw cards already submitted to PSA — a mix of modern Prizm basketball, Topps Chrome baseball, Pokémon Evolving Skies, and Pokémon 151 — and ran each app through the same five steps:
- Capture each card with the app's guided camera.
- Record the predicted overall grade and any sub-grades.
- Record the listed market value and any confidence score.
- Compare to the actual PSA grade once the slab returned.
- Rate the UX, the price, and how easy it was to act on the result.
We also re-ran the test on 20 vintage cards (pre-1980) to see which apps held up. Spoiler: every app degrades on vintage. CardSense AI degraded the least.
